Triple-A Durham Bulls (0-0)
Durham begins its quest for its fifth International League championship Wednesday with a five-game series against Indianapolis (Pittsburgh), champion of the West division. The Bulls won the season series, 6-4.
In the opposite semifinal, it will be a be a battle of Pennsylvania between North division champion Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Yankees) and wild card Lehigh Valley (Philadelphia).
Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (0-0)
After finishing its regular season opposing them, Montgomery battles the Chattanooga Lookouts (Minnesota) in the best-of-five North division semifinal. Chattanooga owned the Southern League and finished 15 games ahead of the Biscuits. The Lookouts dominated the season series, 20-5, including 14 of the last 15 games spread over three series.
In the South division semifinal, it’ll be the two Florida teams battling: Jacksonville (Miami) and Pensacola (Cincinnati).
Class-A Bowling Green Hot Rods (0-0)
Bowling Green enters the postseason for the fifth time, still looking for its first series win, including two prior attempts against Fort Wayne. In fact, the Hot Rods have only won one game in four prior best-of-three sprints. The Hot Rods won this season series, 10-8.
The winner of this series will move on to another best-of-three series in a semifinal against West Michigan (Detroit) or Dayton (Cincinnati).
Short-Season Hudson Valley Renegades (43-31)
Hudson Valley failed to secure a playoff berth with a 3-2 loss to Lowell. Bill Pujols scored a pair of runs that put the Renegades ahead, but they were unable to hang on to the lead in each instance. Starter Resly Linares was charged with an unearned run in 4 2/3 innings, and Alex Valverde allowed two runs — one earned — in 3 1⁄3 frames.
