Tim Lincecum is attempting another comeback.
The two-time Cy Young winner put on a showcase Thursday afternoon, with representatives from reportedly at least 20 teams in attendance. The Tampa Bay Rays were among those present at the showcase.
Lincecum drew national attention this winter after a photo of his physique was shared online.

The 10th overall selection in the 2006 draft, Linecum surged to the majors, debuting with San Francisco in 2007. Dubbed ‘The Freak’ due to his quirky delivery style, Linecum won back-to-back Cy Young awards in 2008 and 2009 and remained among baseball’s top starting pitchers the following two seasons.
In 2012, however, his performance faltered. The former star Giants pitcher last appeared on a major league field in 2016, playing for the Los Angeles Angels.
While with the Angels in 2016, Lincecum’s fastball averaged in the mid to high 80’s, but during his showcase on Thursday afternoon, reports are indicating he was sitting in the low 90’s.
Hopefully this comeback attempt goes smoother than Lincecum’s horrid nine games with the Angels, when he sported a 9.16 ERA / 7.16 FIP, while also allowing 11 HR in just over 38 innings pitched.
Lincecum, with his slight build, unusual delivery and offbeat personality, was a welcome addition to the baseball world during his dominant years. Hopefully he can find his way back to form and return to baseball.
