Four Tampa Bay Rays made the Baseball Prospectus Top 101. This comes in line with Keith Law’s list of four players but behind the six players that landed on Baseball America and MLB.com’s Top 100 lists.
The players who made the BPro list, and their ranking:
Brent Honeywell, RHP (11)
Willy Adames, SS (15)
Brendan McKay, LHP/1B (23)
Jesus Sanchez, OF (60)
Honeywell, Adames, McKay, and Sanchez have clearly separated themselves from the pack as they have made all the major prospect lists in the Top 60.
Baseball Prospectus is really adverse to ranking first base prospects. Ronald Guzman of the Texas Rangers was the only first base-only prospect to make the list at 94.
This was mostly expected as Baseball Prospectus was aggressive in ranking Ronaldo Hernandez as the Rays fifth best prospect.
There is a lot of discussion for different players making the back end of the Top 100. The difference between 75 and 125 isn’t all that substantial and varies wildly upon who is doing the evaluating.
