Uneventful day on the farm in a short slate. The Bulls played in a snowstorm and the Biscuits couldn’t find any offense.
Triple-A Durham Bulls (4-6)
The Durham Bulls lost 3-1 to the Toledo Mud Hens. The game was played in a mixture of freezing rain and snow. The temperature at first pitch was 36 degrees and only got lower from there. The game ended up being called due to snow in the middle of the seventh inning. Anthony Banda had the misfortune of picking up the start in conditions that aren’t ideal for throwing a baseball. He issued three first inning walks including walking in the second run of the game. He rebounded to allow three runs, pick up four strikeouts, and walk four in 4.2 innings of work. The Bulls bats were as cold as the temperature. They picked up four hits with Jason Coats double being the only base hit. Justin Williams drove in the only run in the fourth inning after Brandon Snyder and Joe McCarthy drew walks ahead of Williams RBI single.
Prospect Note: 2B/3B Christian Arroyo was placed on the disabled list with a calf strain. Nothing really notable happened in the game with awful conditions.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (3-8)
The Montgomery Biscuits lost 7-2 to the Tennessee Smokies. Left hander Genesis Cabrera was on the bump for the Biscuits. At times he looked dominant allowing a single run in six innings on two hits while striking out six. Stretches of wildness led to four walks. Mike Franco and Dalton Moats allowed three runs each to put the game out of reach. The Montgomery offense only managed two hits (singles by Jermaine Palacios and Michael Russell). The Biscuits lone scoring opportunity came in the bottom of the eighth after walks to Dalton Kelly and Palacios brought Russell up with one out. Russell’s single loaded the bases for Thomas Milone. Milone plated one of a grounder to short. Solak followed with a walk to load the bases. A wild pitch scored the Biscuits second run of the game.
Prospect Notes: CF/Utility infielder Andrew Velazquez received the call up to Durham to take Arroyo’s roster spot. LHP Genesis Cabrera started things off with a bang striking out the first three batters of the game and five of the first seven. The command started to get away from him in the fifth inning when he issued two walks after a leadoff single that scored on a sacrifice fly. He also walked a batter in the sixth. When he’s working in the zone the stuff is good enough to get him to the majors in some capacity. His stuff plays down as the outing is extending. He might be a candidate for the bullpen in a multiple inning role.
