Game 78 Preview: Washington Nationals @ Tampa Bay Rays

The Rays hope for payback as Dave Martinez returns to the Trop

Tonight, the Washington Nationals begin a brief two game set with the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field.

Blake Snell will take the hill for Tampa Bay, while he’ll be opposed by Gio Gonzalez.

The Rays come into play with a three game win streak, having just swept the New York Yankees in dramatic walk-off fashion. They are now 37-40 on the season.

The Nationals, meanwhile, are 41-35. They are coming off a series loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, but managed to pick up a victory yesterday, 8-6.

In 2018, he has relied primarily on his Sinker (90mph), Fourseam Fastball (91mph), Change (83mph) and Curve (76mph).

His sinker results in somewhat more groundballs compared to other pitchers’ sinkers. His fourseam fastball generates an extremely high number of swings & misses compared to other pitchers’ fourseamers, has essentially average velo and results in somewhat more flyballs compared to other pitchers’ fourseamers. His change results in many more groundballs compared to other pitchers’ changeups and has some natural sink to it. His curve has an exceptional bite and has sweeping glove-side movement.
