DOTF 6/27: Brandon Lowe continues hot run in Durham

Brandon Lowe continued his extra base assault on AAA pitching with a double as one of his three hits in the double header.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (43-34)

The Durham Bulls dropped the first game of a double header against the Charlotte Knights 5-1. Most of the Knights damage came in a four run fourth that put them up 5-0. Kean Wong’s RBI double in the fifth scored the only run for the Bulls.

Ji-Man Choi got the Bulls on the board with a RBI single, followed by a two-RBI double by Justin Williams and RBI single by Jason Coats. Brandon Snyder tacked on another run with a solo homer in the seventh.

The Port Charlotte Stone Crabs dropped the first game of a double header against the Lakeland Flying Tigers 4-1. The Stone Crabs got on the board first with a RBI single in the top of the first off the bat of Jesus Sanchez. The Flying Tigers answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame and held the Stone Crabs scoreless the rest of the way.

The Stone Crabs fell to the Flying Tigers 4-0 in game two of the doubleheader. The game was scoreless through the front four frames. The Flying Tigers broke through with a three spot in the fifth. Josh Lowe came through with a one out single in the seventh to prevent the seven inning no hitter.

The GCL Rays defeated the GCL Twins 6-5. After falling behind 2-0 the Rays answered with five runs in the bottom of the second. Kevin Melendez brought home the first run on a RBI single. Luis Arcendo grounded out with the bases loaded for the second run. Aldenis Sanchez tripled to score two more. A wild pitch capped off the scoring in the frame. Russ Olive brought home the game winning run on a double in the fifth.

The DSL Rays 1 fell to the DSL Marlins 5-4. The Rays 1 extended the game with a run scored on an error with two outs in the ninth. The Rays 1 took advantage of the runner starting at second in the fifth with a sacrifice bunt to move him to third ahead of a wild pitch. It wasn’t enough as the Marlins answered with two in the bottom of the frame.
