Jesus Sanchez hits monster homer, Genesis Cabrera strikes out 12

Jesus Sanchez continued to rake with a monster homer in Port Charlotte’s loss. Genesis Cabrera put up one of his most dominant starts of his career in Montgomery’s victory.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (31-24)

The Durham Bulls had a scheduled day off.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (28-29)

The Montgomery Biscuits defeated the Mississippi Braves 3-0 behind a strong start by Genesis Cabrera. Cabrera went seven scoreless innings with 12 strikeouts and no walks. Nick Solak got on base with a single to left field with two outs in the fifth inning and promptly stole second base. Brandon Lowe followed with a RBI single to put the Biscuits up 1-0. Brett Sullivan added a two-RBI single in the eighth giving the Biscuits all the offense they would need.

Class A-Advanced Port Charlotte Stone Crabs (25-28)

The Port Charlotte Stone Crabs fell to the Dunedin Blue Jays 5-4. The Stone Crabs got on the board first with a RBI single off the bat of Nathaniel Lowe. Jesus Sanchez quickly followed with a mammoth two-run homer to right field. It is reported he hit the homer over the building in Port Charlotte that Jake Bauers and Corey Dickerson sent huge blasts on top of during spring training in recent years. Lucius Fox led off the third with a ground rule double and scored on a Robbie Tenerowicz sacrifice fly putting the Stone Crabs up 4-0. In the fourth and fifth the defense let down the Stone Crabs with three errors causing four unearned frames and putting the Stone Crabs behind 5-4.

DSL Rays 1 (1-1)

The DSL Rays 1 defeated the DSL Athletics 5-2. Julio Meza’s RBI double gave the Rays 1 a 1-0 lead in the second. Back-to-back RBI singles by Johan Lopez and Oneill Manzueta extended the lead to 3-0. The Athletics cut the lead to 3-2 with a two run sixth. The Rays 1 added two insurance runs in the seventh on a RBI groundout by Jhosner Vargas and a RBI single by Alfredo Balbuena.
