Game 95 Preview: Chris Archer vs. Jose Berrios

The Rays dreadlocked right-hander looks to get the Rays back on track.

Today, Chris Archer and the Rays aim for their first win of the series in the third game of a four-game set against the Twins at Target Field.

Minnesota will send All-Star Berrios to the mound.

The right-hander will look for his fourth win of the season this afternoon for the Rays. Archer has been up-and-down through 14 starts, posting a 3-4 win-loss record with a 4.41 ERA, 23.3 K%, 8.3 BB%, and .266 opponents batting average through 58.2 innings pitched.

He is coming off a no-decision against the Tigers on Monday allowing three runs on six hits and two walks across 3.1 innings. He struck out three.

Archer has excelled vs. RHB’s this season, holding hitters to the tune of .244/.312/.372 with a blistering 28.0 K% from the right side of the plate. He’s struggled more vs. LHB’s, with hitters slashing .294/.360/.481

Jose Berrios

The Rays will be facing one of most dominant pitchers in the American League today in Jose Berrios, who is 9-7 with a 3.41 ERA, 3.79 FIP, and 3.65 xFIP in 121.1 innings pitched. He leads the Twins in ERA (3.41), wins (9), innings pitches (121.1), strikeouts (122), quality starts (12), WHIP (0.99), and strikeouts (122).

The right-hander is coming off a win Monday night against the Royals, holding them to one run on six hits and struck out eight through seven innings..
