Rays prospects and minor leagues: Faria continues rehab assignment with Durham

In his third game for Durham, Jake Faria followed an opener for the first time.

Over his last six starts between Class A-Advanced Charlotte and Double-A Montgomery, lefty Brock Burke hasn’t allowed more than two runs. In that span, he has 32 innings with a 28.9 percent strikeout rate and 6.3 percent walk rate.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (56-43)

Durham’s late rally wasn’t enough in a 5-3 loss to Buffalo. Through the first eight innings, the Bulls had no runs on two hits. In the ninth, Christian Arroyo singled in a pair of runs and scored on Brandon Snyder’s triple, but they were unable to get the tying run on base. After Ryan Weber allowed a run in two innings, Jake Faria allowed four in 3 13 frames.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (16-14)

Brock Burke pitched Montgomery to a 5-1 win over Mississippi. His second start since being promoted was his best of the season, tying a season high with nine strikeouts in five one-hit innings. The Biscuits provided him with early run support, scoring all five of their runs in the first. Mississippi didn’t record an out until Jake Cronenworth’s sacrifice fly scored the fifth run.

Class-A Bowling Green Hot Rods (19-11)

Bowling Green hit its way to a 10-5 win over Wisconsin. Emilio Gustave’s home run to lead off the third tied the game at two, and Moises Gomez doubled in two runs later in the inning to give the Hot Rods the lead. Alexander Alvarez led off the fourth with a homer, and they scored three more runs that inning to open up an 8-3 lead. Starter Mikey York allowed three runs on seven hits and four walks in 3 23 innings.

Hudson Valley earned a walk-off, 2-1 win over Vermont. After the Renegades tied the game in the seventh, Jake Stone led off the ninth with a triple. After a strikeout and pair of intentional walks, Ford Proctor came to the plate with the bases loaded and his a game-winning sacrifice fly. Miller Hogan allowed a first-inning run but struck out four in three innings.
