#Rays #Pirates deal is a perfect match of risk/reward for both teams.
— Steve Kinsella (@Steve_Kinsella1) July 31, 2018
To me, it's a perfectly balanced
Archer said there were tears when he heard of trade to #Pirates, that he’s excited to go and sad to leave #Rays
— Marc Topkin (@TBTimes_Rays) July 31, 2018
Note on the Archer deal for the Rays: Pitching coach Kyle Snyder is 6-foot-8 and a savant at helping pitchers understand and control their bodies. Well, Tyler Glasnow is a 6-foot-8 pitcher who struggles with repeating his delivery and throwing strikes. Perfect situation for him.
— Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) July 31, 2018
#Rays scout other teams pitchers exceptionally well. If they can "fix" Glasnow, look out.
— Toby David (@TobyDavid) July 31, 2018
Wow:
— Brian Kenny (@MrBrianKenny) July 31, 2018
Austin Meadows is slugging .468, only 23.
Tyler Glasnow 11.6 k/9, only 24. #Rays get a LOT.....
I am a big fan of Austin Meadows. He can just hit. Not sold on Glasnow as a second piece unless the third piece is better than I'm expecting.
— Tommy Rancel a.k.a. PlaThanos (@TRancel) July 31, 2018
I’m confused as to what #Pirates are doing. Archer is a quality arm, but
— Robert Flores (@RoFlo) July 31, 2018
this is quite a return for the #Rays. https://t.co/yM0UZSvQRf
Aw, you guys, the Pirates are actually trying to get better: https://t.co/LPgLomZMGS pic.twitter.com/bHbqd26rl6

I thought the #Rays had a fabulous day. Chris Archer might find his career again in Pittsburgh and turn into a good pitcher, but I think everything the Rays did today was superb, especially getting Austin Meadows.
— Tom Jones (@TomWJones) July 31, 2018
If it's all true, the #Rays have done a fantastic job leveraging Chris Archer.
— Bernie Pleskoff (@BerniePleskoff) July 31, 2018
The front office did a fantastic job. We have to wait to see if they do, indeed, get Glasnow and Meadows, plus more.
I’m opening up a 2020 World Series savings account. Who’s with me? #Rays
— Conor Wyatt (@conorlewiswyatt) July 31, 2018
The #Rays won this trade to be honest. Austin Meadows (23 years of age) is a good young talented player. Here's his stats this year in the Majors: 49 Games, 5 HR, 13 RBI, 4 SB, .292 AVG. #Raysup #MLB

I'm amazed the Rays finally moved Archer. The return has a lot of potential. Makes for a real interesting OF alignment there with Meadows and Pham flanking Kiermaier.
— Aaron Somers (@AaronJSomers) July 31, 2018
I love it. I love it. I love it.
— Carl Gonzalez (@CarlGonz97) July 31, 2018
Meadows is ok and at least they look to have a reasonable OF solution for next year. Not sold on Glasnow as more than a reliever. They really are going to have to do something to add to the rotation this winter. #Rays
— Josh Morgan (@JoshuaTMorgan) July 31, 2018
No idea what to make of Tyler Glasnow at this point. Range of outcomes is still wider than the Grand Canyon. Tons of talent & risk.
— George Bissell (@GeorgeBissell) July 31, 2018
Kiermaier is also the only remaining #Rays player from their last playoff appearance*
— Cork Gaines (@CorkGaines) July 31, 2018
* he only played 2 innings as a defensive replacement in the WC game and was left off the ALDS roster
The Rays' payroll commitments for next year now stand at ~$10M. That's $8.167M for Kiermaier, $2M they're still paying Longoria. Everyone else is in arb, or pre-arb. LOL.

Marc , is this the best we can get for a top of the rotation starter like @ChrisArcher22 with a friendly contract ? Would have loved Frazier & Sheffield from the @Yankees @RonDiazWDAE @Buster_ESPN @karlravechespn @Kurkjian_ESPN @jaysonst @Joelsherman1

#Rays fans, please take note of the deals.
— Steve Kinsella (@Steve_Kinsella1) July 31, 2018
Andriese brought back a catcher who is on 25-man
Eovaldi a SP who is up now
Archer - not low level prospects years away
Acquiring Pham
Use these deals as a barometer of where front office feels they are
This is how I’ll fondly remember @ChrisArcher22. A beautiful mind and an amazing way with words. I put him up with John McKay for best interview in Tampa Bay history. https://t.co/9nfkzxbFaw
