Rays: 10, Angels: 6 - Post Deadline MADNESS

New, comments

Wait there is a game today?!

MLB: Los Angeles Angels at Tampa Bay Rays Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Ah the first game after a trade deadline! Rays send Ryne Stanek out to start because according to the internet, the Rays have no starting pitchers. Which is kind of accurate.

Rays would take on Angels righty Tyler Skaggs, who had a string of great starts for the Angels.

Rays would get things started in the 2nd with a Jake Bauers BOMB:

Rays would tack on 2 more with a Kevin Kiermaier triple to score Mallex Smith, and a Robertson groundout to bring in KK.

An Albert Pujos would bring around Mike Trout to make it 3-1 Rays after 3.5 IP.

Then things got fun!

Rays would bat around and send twelve men to the plate, who would get 6 H, 3 BB, and add a nice cushion of 7 more runs and make it 10-1 Rays.

Time to sit back, relax, and...

checks notes

Angels would slowly hack away at the Rays lead, plating runs in the 5th on a Kole Calhoun 2-run HR to make it 10-3 Rays.

It seemed like it was getting out of hand for the Rays in the 6th after a Albert Pujols double and hard singles by the rest of the Angels lineup (including Calhoun) would add 2 more runs and make it 10-5 Rays, but Ryan Yarborough had a beautiful strikeout of DH Shonei Ohtani to end the inning and stop the bleeding.

Kevin Cash let Ryan Yarborough face Mike Trout for the 3rd time, and Trout gonna Trout:

Pretty sure it was hit farther, but it hit the back catwalk ring.

Anyways, the score is 10-6 Rays and Yarborough exits the game after 5 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 0 BB, and 4 Ks.

Here is what Kevin Cash had to say about Yarby’s outing:

Diego Castillo, Jose Alvarado and Sergio Romo would take over for Yarby and finish the game out with 3 IP, 2 H, 4 BB, 4 Ks, and most importantly: 0 Runs.

Final score: 10-6. Rays are one game over .500 again, and Ryan Yarborough gets his 10th win.

Rays go for the series win tomorrow as Newly acquired RHP Tyler Glasnow gets the start for the Rays against RHP Nick Tropeano. Game time is 7:10 PM
