FanPost Friday: Build your ideal 2018 MLB All-Star roster

Popularity or merits?

MLB: Milwaukee Brewers at Washington Nationals Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

As of right now, it seems like a lock that the Rays will have one representative in the 2018 All-Star Game, the very deserving Wilson Ramos, who had leapt ahead of Yankee’s catcher Gary Sanchez in recent weeks. Unless there’s a late Yankees surge, the Buffalo will head to Washington DC later this month.

While it’s exciting to see a Rays player win the popular vote, it was a bit surprising how long it took people to realize how much Ramos deserved to go, considering he was better that Sanchez in almost every single category. Still popularity it a force to be reckoned with, and it can lead to some pretty imbalanced All-Star lineups (does anyone else remember when the Royals nearly filled up the field?)

So, with the idea in mind that it might be fun to pick an All-Star team based on our own whims (or on silly things like merit), we’re leaving it up to you to make your own perfect All-Star roster, right down to the starting pitcher.
