DOTF 8/13: Vidal Brujan and Nathaniel Lowe homer, Shane McClanahan makes pro debut

Shane McClanahan made his professional debut for the GCL Rays throwing one scoreless inning and striking out two. Vidal Brujan hit a massive 411 foot blast for his first homer with Port Charlotte and continued his destruction of the FSL since being promoted eight games ago. Nathaniel Lowe hit his second AAA homer and his 25th overall.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (65-52)

The Durham Bulls fell to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 10-3. Ryan Weber allowed seven runs, six earned, in 4.2 innings of work. Nathaniel Lowe led the way offensive with two hits including his second AAA homer. Lowe’s homer came off Enyel De Los Santos who entered Baseball America’s updated Top 100 yesterday at #100 after they graduated Willy Adames.

Port Charlotte Stone Crabs (64-52)

The Port Charlotte Stone Crabs lost to the Fort Myers Miracle 4-3. Brendan McKay didn’t pitch a bad game, but he was more wild than he typically is. He allowed two earned runs in 5.0 innings while allowing six hits and two walks while striking out four. In the top of the sixth Vidal Brujan got the Stone Crabs on the board with a 411 foot blast for his first A+ homer. In seven of the eighth games since Brujan’s promotion to Port Charlotte he has been on base at least two times and has put up a .464/.583/.679 line with a 2B, 3B, HR and collecting eight walks while striking out only three times in 37 plate appearances. Brujan has stolen 4 bases and been caught twice. In the bottom of the eighth the Miracle rallied for two runs and were able to hold in the ninth.
