I can admit it, I’m a sucker for the Little League World Series. I’m a sucker for Little League in general. I was never much of a skilled player myself, but I still have great memories of my time taking the field. Or more accurately hiding as far out in left field as humanly possible and praying the ball would never be hit in my direction.
Currently, my favorite thing about the LLWS is the discovery of one Alfred “Big Al” Delia.
Big Al is perfection. He has confidence, he knows himself, and dammit, he’s going to hit him some dingers. He’s the perfect personification of everything great and wonderful about Little League. I hope someone writes a movie about him.
Alfred also reminds us that we were once bold and youthful and ready to take on the world with the twang of our metal bats, and the brand new gloves we wrapped in elastic bands to form to the shape of the ball.
So in honor of Big Al, and the Little League World Series, our topic this week is “What is your favorite Little League memory?” If you don’t have one of your own, perhaps your kids have done something particularly fun or memorable while playing.
Head over to the FanPosts section and select “New FanPost” on the left, then share your more hilarious or heartfelt Little League memory with us.
