DOTF 8/1: Kevin Padlo delivers walk-off homer for Port Charlotte

Rain dominated the slate down on the farm with three affiliates unable to complete their scheduled games. Kevin Padlo delivered a walk-off three run homer for Port Charlotte.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (60-46)

The Durham Bulls double header against the Gwinnett Stripers was postponed due to rain.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (59-50)

The Montgomery Biscuits game against Jackson Generals was suspended in the middle of the second tied at zero.

Port Charlotte Stone Crabs (51-46)

The Port Charlotte Stone Crabs defeated the Florida Fire Frogs 6-3 in 12 innings. Thanks to runners being placed at second base to start extra innings both sides traded single runs in the tenth and eleventh innings after being tied at zero through regulation. After allowing a single run in the top of the twelfth the Stone Crabs rallied to put a four spot in the bottom of the frame winning the game on a walk-off three run homer by Kevin Padlo. The Stone Crabs were held to three hits, but all went for extra bases with Padlo contributing a double and homer. In Brendan McKay’s second start since returning from the disabled list he went four scoreless innings.

The Bowling Green Hot Rods defeated the Lake County Captains 13-4. The Hot Rods put up seven runs in the first and held a 10-0 lead midway through the fourth. Zach Rutherford led the way to thee hits including two doubles.

The Hudson Valley Renegades fell to the Lowell Spinners 8-2. The game was tied at two through three frames, but that was high point for the Renegades. They couldn’t overcome a four run fifth inning.

The GCL Rays fell to the GCL Red Sox 5-1. A sloppy first inning allowed the Red Sox to score three unearned runs and was enough for them to cruise to victory. Matthew Liberatore allowed two hits and two walks while striking out three in three innings of work. Dawson Dimon collected two hits for the Rays offense.
