DOTF 8/27: Princeton Rays clinch division

The Princeton Rays clinched the Appalachian League East Division title. Moises Gomez (Bowling Green) continued his hot run with three hits including two doubles.

In this week’s Baseball America’s Hot Sheet the Tampa Bay Rays organization was well represented. Moises Gomez (Bowling Green) came in 4th, Jake Fraley (Port Charlotte) came in ninth, and Vidal Brujan (Port Charlotte) came in 19th.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (73-58)

The Durham Bulls game against the Norfolk Tides was postponed due to unplayable field conditions after a rain delay in the sixth inning with the score tied 1-1. Austin Meadows picked up a double as one of the three hits for Durham. Chih-Wei Hu struck out seven in five innings allowing a solo homer to Chance Sisco.

The Montgomery Biscuits fell to the Tennessee Smokies 3-1. The Biscuits took a 1-0 lead in the first. With the game tied at one entering the ninth Yoel Espinal allowed two runs. Benton Moss threw eight strong innings allowing only three hits and a lone run on a homer. Brett Sullivan collected three hits including a double and drove in the only run for Montgomery.
