By the time the deadline was over, the Rays had made more moves than any other team. Gone was catcher Wilson Ramos, not surprising anyone. Gone too were Nathan Eovaldi, Matt Andriese, Jonny Venters, and yes, even Chris Archer [yes, typoed this as Chris Sale first, wishful thinking of a Chris Sale trade was my change].
Brought on were hot prospects, and the unexpected addition of Tommy Pham from the Cardinals.
While the Rays may not be competing for this season, they certainly appear to want to compete soon.
Still, with the help of hindsight, we’ve had some time to reflect on these moves and how we feel about them. Did the Rays make the right choices? Are they hoping for too much from their international slot money? Do you think they should have asked for more for Archer, or was there perhaps a trade that didn’t happen you’d have liked to see instead?
This week we want to know: what would you have done differently at the trade deadline.
Head over to the FanPosts section and select “New FanPost” on the left, then tell us what you would change.
And later today we’ll be posting our first “Best of FanPosts” anthology for the month of July, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
