So much can change in five years. In the span of a normal human life, it’s enough time to meet your future spouse, get married, and have children. For a teen it’s the difference between starting and finishing high school, going on to college. In a job it can represent positional changes, raises, any number of projects, and tens of thousands of emails.
What does five years mean for a baseball team?
It can be the entire duration of a player’s contract. It can be the peak of their career. It can mean the difference between slogging away in the minors, and spending time in the big club. For some, it can be the difference between being a no-name prospect and being a superstar.
It can also see new rules, new teams, new venues. Baseball as we know it could look very different in five years’ time.
So this week, we want you to pull out those crystal balls and look into the future of the Rays’ franchise. Who will still be on the team? Who will have debuted from the minors? Will the team have their new stadium? How about those insane baseball rules?
Head over to the FanPosts section and select “New FanPost” on the left, then tell us what your future vision for the team is. It can be the projected lineup, or just how insane you think baseball in general will have become.
