With Bowling Green’s season now finished, there’s just one game left on the Rays minor league schedule this season — Durham’s Triple-A National Championship contest against Memphis on Tuesday.
Triple-A Durham Bulls (79-60)
Durham was off.
Class-A Bowling Green Hot Rods (7-1)
Bowling Green rolled to a 7-2 win over Peoria, winning its first Midwest League championship. With a lot of early scoring, the outcome was hardly in doubt. Vidal Brujan led off the game with a walk and scored on Moises Gomez’s double, and the Hot Rods put the game out of the reach in the second inning. Thanks to a couple errors, they were able to score five unearned runs, including four with two outs. Taylor Walls doubled in two and scored on a Jim Haley single. With the early run support, Paul Campbell cruised through six innings, allowing two runs and striking out four.
2B Vidal Brujan: 1-for-3, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB
SS Taylor Walls: 1-for-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K
C Ronaldo Hernandez: 0-for-4, 2 K
DH Trey Hair: 2-for-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI
RHP Paul Campbell: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
