With the Triple-A season finally coming to its conclusion on Tuesday night, the Tampa Bay Rays will be making several more additions to their active roster with just a dozen regular season games remaining on the schedule.
On Thursday, the Rays will be promoting a trio of pitchers (Austin Pruitt, Chih-Wei Hu, and Hoby Milner), as well as one of the team’s recently acquired top prospects, outfielder Austin Meadows.
Meadows did well in his 49 games of major league experience over a couple of stints with the Pirates this season, hitting .292/.327/.468 with 5 HR over 165 plate appearances.
Since joining Tampa Bay following the Chris Archer trade at the deadline, Meadows was immediately stashed away in Triple-A Durham to return to everyday plate appearances after serving in a bench role with Pittsburgh.
With the International League winning Bulls, the former No. 6 prospect in all of baseball blistered the competition, mashing 10 HR over just 106 plate appearances, contributing to an outrageous 223 wRC+.
The trio of pitchers the Rays have recalled all have spent separate stints with the team this season, and all three pitchers are able to work multiple innings, which will provide plenty of depth to the Rays bullpen.
All four players are expected to be with the team and ready to play prior to the start of the series in Toronto.
