Jesus Sanchez named 9th best outfield prospect by MLB Pipeline

Minor League Baseball: Florida State League-All Star Game Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports

MLB Pipeline has completed their top ten positional prospect rankings, capping off their rankings with the outfield and the Tampa Bay Rays have been featured yet again.

Jesus Sanchez has been ranked as the 9th best outfield prospect in baseball.

MLB Pipeline’s top 10 OF prospects

  1. Eloy Jimenez, White Sox
  2. Victor Robles, Nationals
  3. Kyle Tucker, Astros
  4. Alex Kirilloff, Twins
  5. Jo Adell, Angels
  6. Taylor Trammell, Reds
  7. Alex Verdugo, Dodgers
  8. Cristian Pache, Braves
  9. Jesus Sanchez, Rays
  10. Luis Robert, White Sox

Jesus Sanchez is an exciting young player in a stacked Rays system. He made it up to Double-A this past season, and despite some struggles looking for walks, has a chance to be an above average hitter at the plate with decent speed and plus defense. He just turned 21 years old in October.

The only negative to his game is his plate discipline, which has left him prone to swinging at bad pitches, and not allowing his power to play. Overall between High-A and Double-A last season, Sanchez hit .282/.324/.433 with 11 HR over 488 plate appearances.

Sanchez was added to the Rays 40-man roster in November, so he will receive an invite to spring training. MLB Pipeline will have their top 100 prospect countdown on MLB Network at 8pm on Saturday.
