Today kicks off the annual General Managers meeting — not to be confused with the Winter Meeting that takes place in December. It’s usually more of a nuts and bolts meeting, but when you get all those GMs together in one place, sometimes things happen. They did so just last year when the Rays acquired Mike Zunino and Guillermo Heredia in the Mallex Smith trade. Marc Topkin writes about the meeting here.

In other Rays news, we will find out today that Brandon Lowe did not win the Rookie of the Year, as there are no universes where Yordan Alvarez doesn’t win the AL ROY. Still, it was as they say an honor just to be nominated.

Anthony Castrovince picks the Rays to win the AL East in his way too early predictions.

Finally, in a housekeeping note, there is no weekly minor league post because no Ray playing in an offseason league had a single AB or IP in the last week.
