With Opening Day nearly upon us, the Tampa Bay Rays roster is down to one last decision; The last spot to be determined on the 25 man roster.

Adam Kolarek and Emilio Pagan are the two players left in camp that are on the bubble as to who will be with the team in St Pete on Thursday and who will be joining the Durham Bulls. There’s also a scenario in which both players make the Rays, with Wilmer Font being placed on the Injured List.

Kolarek made his MLB debut with the Rays in 2017, and also spent some time with the big league squad in 2018. Over 31 games, Kolarek displayed an adept ability to get groundballs and had an exceptional walk rate, getting quality results for the Rays.

The Rays acquired Pagan in a three team deal with the Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers, back in December. Pagan made his MLB debut with the Mariners in 2017, eventually making his way over to Oakland in 2018, with whom he pitched in 55 games

The battle is now down to just those two pitchers with the announcement today that the Rays have optioned Hunter Wood to the minor league camp.
