Mike Brosseau stayed hot for Durham Sunday, hitting his eighth home run of the season. He also played shortstop for the first time this season. At 5’10 and 215 pounds, there’s not a long track record of shortstops with similar size, but the Rays are clearly interested in improving his versatility.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (21-15)

Durham’s seven-game winning streak ended with a 6-4 loss to Rochester. Mike Brosseau and Jason Coats homered in the top of the fourth to give the Bulls a 3-1 lead, but the Red Wings immediately responded with five in the bottom half of the inning. Ryan Merritt issued a bases-loaded walk and then a grand slam. He finished with six runs — five earned — allowed in 3 13 innings.

2B Nick Solak: 1-for-4, 1 2B (.806)
1B Nate Lowe: 1-for-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 K (.896)
3B Kean Wong: 3-for-4, 2 R (.976)
SS Mike Brosseau: 2-for-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI (.963)
LF Jason Coats: 1-for-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI (.746)

LHP Ryan Merritt: 3 13 IP, 7 H, 6 R (5 ER), 2 BB, 3 K (7.82)

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (23-13)

Montgomery scored six first-inning runs en route to a 9-3 win over Mississippi. The Braves walked three of the first four batters, including Tristan Gray with the bases loaded. Lucius Fox and Miles Mastrobuoni hit back-to-back two-run doubles, and Brendan McKay capped the scoring with an RBI single. The Biscuits had four pitchers combine to limit Mississippi to three runs, led by Dalton Moats’ three scoreless innings.

CF Josh Lowe: 1-for-5, 1 R, 3 K (.794)
SS Lucius Fox: 1-for-5, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K (.685)
