Rays prospects and minor leagues: Kevin Padlo homers twice

Matt Duffy and Hunter Wood start rehab assignments.

Kevin Padlo (Montgomery) was the offensive star of the night with two homers. Riley O’Brien (Montgomery) and Easton McGee (Bowling Green) had scoreless starts. Matt Duffy and Hunter Wood started rehab assignments with the Charlotte Stone Crabs.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (21-15)

The Durham Bulls had a scheduled day off.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (24-13)

The Montgomery Biscuits shutout the Mississippi Braves 5-0. The Biscuits won their fifth straight game. Kevin Padlo put the Biscuits on the board with a two run homerun in the third. Padlo added a solo homer in seventh for the final run of the game. Tristan Gray hit a RBI triple in the fifth. Riley O’Brien struck out ten Braves in 6.0 innings while allowing only one hit and two walks.

Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (19-18)

The Charlotte Stone Crabs defeated the Daytona Tortugas 6-2 for their fourth straight victory. The Stone Crabs put up a two spot in the second inning with a Carl Chester RBI double and Thomas Milone sacrifice fly. After the Tortugas cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Jim Haley singled home Garrett Whitley to extend the lead to two. In the seventh the Tortugas cut the lead to one, but a Ronaldo Hernandez single scored two thanks to a throwing error by the right fielder. Hernandez scored on a balk giving the Stone Crabs the 6-2 lead. Hunter Wood opened with 2.0 scoreless innings in his first rehab appearance. Matt Duffy made his first rehab appearance since having his last attempt cut short. Duffy went one for two and added a walk.

The Bowling Green Hot Rods were shutout by the South Bend Cubs 3-0. Easton McGee threw 5.0 shutout innings with two strikeouts. Wander Franco continued to hit with two singles and a walk. Ford Proctor had a two hit game.
