Montgomery is the best team in the Southern League, so it leads the league in All-Star representation.

It’s been a busy few days for the organization. On Friday, seven Biscuits were named to the 2019 Southern League All-Star Game in Biloxi on June 18. Jesus Sanchez headlines a group that also includes Dalton Kelly, Miles Mastrobuoni, Sam McWilliams, Kenny Rosenberg, Phoenix Sanders, and Curtis Taylor.

Also over the weekend, one of the team’s top pitching prospects — lefty Shane McClanahan — was promoted from Bowling Green to Charlotte after a nice start to the season with the Hot Rods.

The team has also reportedly signed its top two picks from last week’s draft, shortstop Greg Jones and right-handed pitcher JJ Goss. We’ll have our draft signing board up soon.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (36-26)

In a battle of top 2017 draft picks, Brendan McKay’s Bulls prevailed over Kyle Wright’s Stripers, 10-2. Gwinnett scored in the first, but McKay cruised the rest of the way, allowing just the run on three hits and two walks in five innings with four strikeouts. Durham led 2-1 when it scored three in the fifth and four in the sixth. Michael Perez homered twice, and Joey Wendle had three hits as his rehab assignment was transferred to Durham.

SS Joey Wendle: 3-for-4, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 K, 1 SB
C Michael Perez: 2-for-3, 3 R, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 2 BB

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (38-24)

Sam McWilliams dominated again in Montgomery’s 3-1 win over Jacksonville. With seven more scoreless innings, the righty hasn’t allowed a run in his last three starts, totaling 22 innings. With the game tied at one in the ninth, Kevin Padlo hit a go-ahead, two-run home run.

Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (32-30)

Charlotte’s game was canceled.

Class-A Bowling Green Hot Rods (37-26)

Matthew Liberatore had another good outing in Bowling Green’s Game 1, 4-1 win over West Michigan. In six scoreless innings, he allowed just three hits and two walks, and he struck out two. The Hot Rods scored all four of their runs in the sixth.

Cristopher Sanchez followed that great starting performance with one of his own in the Hot Rods’ 3-2 win in Game 2. He threw five scoreless innings of his own, striking out five, walking none, and giving up just five hits. Wander Franco hit an RBI triple and scored on an error in the first, and Seaver Whalen’s RBI single in the fourth proved to be crucial.

SS Wander Franco (1): 0-for-2, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 CS
