Dog Days of Summer: It’s bark at the park on Saturday!

It’s everyone’s favorite day at the park! (unless you have a dog allergy)

MLB: Houston Astros at Tampa Bay Rays Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Is there anything better than a dog-themed event at the park? If you answered no and don’t like dogs, that’s fine I guess... weirdo. But for me, the combination of dogs and baseball is basically merging two of my all-time favorite things into one perfect tail-wagging, home-run hitting perfect day.

That day, for the Rays, comes this Saturday, June 15 — and from 11:40am to 1:40pm before the game, the Rays Wives will be doing something that a lot of other teams don’t incorporate into their Bark at the Park events: a donation drive.

If you bring canned dog food (Hill’s Science Diet is the preferred brand) it will be donated to the St. Petersburg Pet Pal Animal Shelter, and in return, you get a voucher for TWO tickets to an upcoming Rays home game. Talk about a win-win.

A note on Pet Pals: they rescue animal from other shelters where they might end up being euthanized. They also work on educating the public about the importance of spaying and neutering your pets.

Once you’ve donated, enjoy seeing all the puppers at the park, and if you want to bring your own, remember to grab a special $30 ticket that gets you and your furry best friend access to the game.
