Rays prospects and minor leagues: Biscuits clinch playoff spot

Triple-A Durham Bulls (40-26)

Brendan McKay homered again in Durham’s 6-3 win over Toledo. For the second time in three games, the two-way star went deep, and this time, it provided the go-ahead run in the four-run fifth. Kean Wong and Mike Brosseau also hit home runs. Jose De Leon struck out five and allowed two runs in 3 23 innings.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (41-25)

Riley O’Brien was sharp in Montgomery’s 4-2 win over Chattanooga. The righty had one of his best outings of the season, striking out nine and giving up just five hits and a walk in five scoreless innings. Josh Lowe’s solo homer in the first gave the Biscuits an early lead, and his run-scoring double play in the fifth proved to be the winning run.

Charlotte held on for an eight-inning, 9-5 win over Bradenton. The Stone Crabs had three, three-run innings. Thomas Milone tripled in a pair in the fourth, Taylor Walls and Ronaldo Hernandez each had RBI doubles in the seventh, and Garrett Whitley doubled in a pair in the eighth. Stephen Woods Jr. was outstanding, striking out nine in six scoreless innings. The Marauders scored all of their runs in the eighth.

A big inning sunk Bowling Green in an 8-3 loss to Fort Wayne. The Hot Rods trailed 1-0 after one, but they faced a 7-0 deficit after the three-run third. The TinCaps led 8-0 before Bowling Green finally scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Easton McGee allowed seven runs in three innings.
