Through nine innings, the Midwest League All-Star Game was tied at three. To decide it, each team chose a player for a one-round home run derby. The East naturally selected Monday’s home run derby winner, Chris Betts. He won it and flipped his bat:

He was named All-Star Game MVP.

Short-Season Hudson Valley Renegades (1-4)

Greg Jones’ debut wasn’t enough for Hudson Valley in its 7-3 loss to Vermont. The first-round pick had two hits — including a double — and stole a base as the Renegades’ leadoff hitter and DH. Unfortunately, the Lake Monsters raced out to a 6-0 lead through two innings. Edisson Gonzalez allowed all six of those runs.
