Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse, a survey of fans across MLB. Each week, we send 30 polls to plugged in fans from each team. Rays fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse.
Expansion has been a popular subject among baseball circles for the past decade as several cities are building up offers and sites to lure Major League Baseball to their towns. Portland has recently ramped up their efforts, while Montreal has always kept its name in the conversation.
Fans were surveyed and the results were anything but unanimous. However, Montreal did receive the most of the votes, as over 30% of those surveyed answered with the city north of the border.

The DRaysBay Editor in Chief, Danny Russell, was asked to provide his two cents on the expansion matter in baseball.
“Baseball will surely expand, but not until the stadium situations are resolved in Oakland and Tampa Bay -- and for good reason. If there’s not a solution, there may be a sale, and baseball will always be driven by one thing: owners! Which city gets a team is entirely dependent on where the owner is that is willing to buy a team. It’s why the Expos ever moved in the first place. Right now it looks like the money is coming from Montreal, where a stadium location has been acquired by an ownership group downtown. As for the other cities, follow the money!” - Danny Russell
Meanwhile, in the weekly questions posed to Rays fans about their confidence in the team and faith in Kevin Cash, here is how they responded:
- 100% approve of Kevin Cash
- 96% are confident in the direction of the team
