Wander Franco (Charlotte) continues to rake despite being an 18 year old in the Florida State League. Franco is now 5-for-7 with a double and walk in his first eight plate appearances.
Triple-A Durham Bulls (48-30)
The Durham Bulls fell to the Norfolk Tides 6-5. In the second the Bulls fell behind 2-0. Dalton Kelly cut the deficit to one with a sacrifice fly. In the third the Tides extended their lead to 3-1. In the fourth Kelly’s two-run single tied the game. Brendan McKay followed with an RBI double to give the Bulls a 4-3 lead. The lead was short lived as the Tides tied the game in the fifth. In the eighth the Tides took the lead 6-4. Kean Wong’s single in the ninth cut the Tides lead to one, but the Bulls couldn’t complete the comeback.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (47-30)
The Montgomery Biscuits were defeated by the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 7-5. The Jumbo Shrimp sprinted out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Biscuits responded with three of their own in the bottom of the frame. RBI singles by Tristan Gray and Lucius Fox along with a RBI double by Robbie Tenerowicz plated the runs. The Jumbo Shrimp put up another three spot in the third. The Biscuits responded with two runs on a Tenerowicz RBI single and a throwing error.

The Charlotte Stone Crabs defeated the Fort Myers Miracle 3-2. The game was scoreless heading into the fifth when Wander Franco hit a two-run ground-rule double to put the Stone Crabs up 2-0. In the sixth the Miracle tied the game at two. Joey Roach singled home the game winning run in the seventh. Franco hasn’t skipped a beat since being promoted. He’s five for seven with a double, two RBI, and a walk.

The Bowling Green Hot Rods game with the Great Lake Loons was suspended with the game tied at two after five innings due to rain. Ford Proctor put the Hot Rods on the board with a solo homer in the third to take a 1-0 lead. The Loons scored two in the fourth to take a 2-1 lead. Proctor tied the game in the bottom of the fifth with a sacrifice fly. The game will be completed this afternoon.

The Hudson Valley Renegades fell to the Staten Island Yankees 3-2. Hill Alexander hit a two run homer in the first to give the Renegades a 2-0 lead. The Yankee offense was held quiet until they put up three in the sixth to take the 3-2 lead. The Rays 2nd round pick John Doxakis made his professional debut with 2.0 clean innings with three strikeouts.

The Princeton Rays defeated the Pulaski Yankees 7-2. Luis Leon’s RBI double plated the first run of the game for Princeton in the first. In the second the Yankees tied the game, but Gionti Turner’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame gave the Rays a 2-1 lead. Kevin Melendez hit an RBI single in the third to extend the lead to 3-1. In the fourth the Rays put up a crooked number with RBI singles off the bats of Jhosner Vargas, Jelfry Marte, and Leon to take a 6-1 lead. Turner gave the Rays an insurance run in the eighth with a RBI single.

The GCL Rays outlasted the GCL Pirates 6-3 in 11 innings. Nick Schnell’s RBI triple and RBI double by Abiezel Ramirez put the Rays up 2-0 in the first. In the third a bases loaded walk by Daiwer Castellanos plated the third run for the Rays. The Pirates tied the game at three in the sixth. The game remained tied until two runs scored on a throwing error in the eleventh. Abiezel Ramirez’s RBI single put the final run on the board.

Dominican Summer League Rays 1 (10-12)
The DSL Rays 1 fell to the DSL Dodgers Bautista 9-8. The Rays 1 scored first with two in the first and added on a four spot in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead. Heading into the bottom of the ninth the Rays 1 held a 8-2 lead, but couldn’t hold on for the victory. The Dodgers Bautista scored seven runs in the bottom of the frame for the walk-off win.

The DSL Rays 2 lost to the DSL Indians 6-5. The Indians put up three in the top of the first. The Rays 2 responded with a single run in the bottom of frame to trail 3-1. In the fourth the deficit was cut to one on a solo homer by Yonathan Pierre. In the sixth teams traded two runs with the Rays 2 runs coming on a two-run double by Pierre. In the seventh the teams traded single runs with the Rays 2 scoring on a RBI single by Freddvil Chevez to trail by one 6-5.
