FanPost Friday: Build your ideal All-Star team

The ASG is coming and I think we could make a better roster

MLB: Minnesota Twins at Cleveland Indians David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

This week, MLB announced the All-Star position player starters, the first time they were trying out a new voting system. For the first time, instead of the players being selected by purely a popular vote, there was a round of open voting where all players were eligible to collect votes, and then a SECOND round where the top three vote-getters in each position category were voted on a second time to get the most popular overall player.

The other great addition this year was a tie-in with Google, which allowed fans to vote for players merely by searching their name and clicking a button, rather than filling out a cumbersome online form confirming different codes, etc. It seems like a real effort was made this year to make voting as easy as possible.

We want to make it even easier for you. Rather than combing through a list of names online or asking yourself “who is that guy again?” we’re going to let you build your own perfect All-Star roster. And unlike the real deal, we’re even going to let you pick five pitchers (relief or starting, your choice), and four relief players (listed as B for bench).

Just copy the lists below and then head to the FanPost section and select “New FanPost” on the left, and give us your dream team. Any player can be selected, not just favorites from other fanbases.
