On a wet day on the farm Wander Franco (Charlotte) picked up two hits and two walks in a double header. Tommy Romero (Charlotte) threw a 7.0 inning complete game picking up nine strikeouts.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (59-42)

The Durham Bulls had a scheduled day off.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (63-37)

The Montgomery Biscuits games against the Tennessee Smokies was postponed due to rain.

Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (60-39)

The Charlotte Stone Crabs dropped game one of their double header against the Jupiter Hammerheads 6-3. Shane McClanahan battled control with three walks and errors in the field behind him. The Hammerheads scored two runs in each of the first two frames with the Stone Crabs scoring a single run by Wander Franco on a wild pitch to trail 4-1 through two. In the eighth the Stone Crabs cut the lead to three on a Zach Rutherford RBI single and sacrifice fly by Franco.

The Stone Crabs won game two of the double header 1-0. Jermaine Palacios drove home the lone run of the game with a double in the second inning. Tommy Romero threw a complete game (seven innings) allowing two hits and a walk while striking out nine.

Dominican Summer League Rays 1 (18-25)

The DSL Rays 1 lost to the DSL Athletics 8-4. The Rays 1 took an early lead on a wild pitch in the first. Down 3-1 in the fifth the Rays 1 put a run on the board on a fielding error to cut the deficit to one. The Athletics added an insurance run in the sixth before the Rays 1 answered with a RBI double by Ricardo Salazar to once against cut the deficit to one in the bottom of the frame. In the ninth Estanli Castillo’s RBI single tied the game at four and forced extras. In the tenth the Athletics scored four for the win.

The DSL Rays 2 fell to the DSL Rangers 1 8-7. Down 3-0 the Rays 2 responded with a RBI groundout in the second inning by Daury Del Rosario. In the third they cut the deficit to one on a RBI groundout by Felix Salguera. Dahiandy Johnson hit a RBI single in the fourth to cut the deficit to 5-3. Yonathan Pierre doubled home a run in the fifth to cut the deficit to 5-4. Down 8-5 in the ninth Pierre tripled home a run and scored on a Cesar Aponte groundout, but the rally ended up a run short.
