Wander Franco (Charlotte) picked up three hits in a double header. Michael Plassmeyer (Charlotte) threw a 7.0 inning complete game.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (59-44)

The Durham Bulls fell to the Pawtucket Red Sox 5-4. The Bulls took an early 3-0 lead with a RBI triple by Kean Wong, RBI single by Jesus Sanchez, and RBI double by Kevin Padlo in the first. In the third the Red Sox came back to tie it. In the sixth the Red Sox took a two run lead. Jason Coats solo homer in the bottom inning would be the last offense the Bulls would muster.

The Montgomery Biscuits shutout the Tennesse Smokies 3-0 in game one of a double header. All three of the Biscuits runs scored in the sixth. Josh Lowe drove home the first run on a sacrifice fly and Brett Sullivan’s two-run homer capped off the scoring. Paul Campbel and Phoenix Sanders combined for the 7.0 inning shutout.

In game two the Biscuits scored late to secure a 4-3 victory. In the second the Biscuits took a three run lead with RBI doubles by Jim Haley and Rene Pinto followed by a RBI single by Thomas Milone. The Smokies didn’t waste time tying the game in the bottom of the frame. The game was tied through seven going to extras. In the ninth Jim Haley’s RBI single scored the game winning run.

The Charlotte Stone Crabs defeated the Jupiter Hammerheads 7-1 in game one of a double header. Daniel Robertson doubled home the first run of the game in the first. In the second a wild pitch scored the Stone Crabs first run of the frame with Robertson adding a RBI single and Kaleo Johnson with an RBI grounding out to extend the lead to 4-0. Wander Franco drove two home with a single in the third with Ronaldo Hernandez singling home a run to give the Stone Crabs a 7-0 lead. Michael Plassmeyer threw a 7.0 inning complete game allowing one run.

The Bowling Green Hot Rods rallied for a 6-5 victory over the Fort Wayne TinCaps. Chris Betts gave the Hot Rods an early lead with a RBI single in the first. Trailing 4-1 Grant Witherspoon drove in a run with a triple and scored on a RBI single by Roberto Alvarez to cut the deficit to one. Jonathan Aranda’s RBI single gave the Hot Rods a 5-4 lead after a second run scored on a throwing error. In the eighth the TinCaps temporarily tied the game before Osmy Gregorio singled home the game winning run in the bottom of the eighth.

The Hudson Valley Renegades fell to the Vermont Lake Monsters 7-3. Jacson McGowan hit a RBI groundout to tie the game at one through three. KV Edwards’ RBI single gave the Renegades a short lived 2-1 lead. In the seventh McGowan’s RBI single gave the Renegades a late 3-2 lead. Four runs for the Lake Monsters proved too much for the Renegades offense.

The Princeton Rays fell to the Elizabethton Twins 7-6 in extras. The Rays broke through with three runs in the fifth with a three-RBI triple by Brett Wisely. Wisely drove in a run in the seventh on a groundout to extend the lead to 4-2. A passed ball in the eighth gave the Rays an insurance run. The Twins tied the game at five to force extras. Luis Leon singled home the go ahead run in the tenth, but the Twins scored two to walk off on a strikeout that resulted in a wild pitch.

The DSL Rays 2 defeated the DSL Pirates 1 7-2. The Rays 2 first run scored on a balk. Dahiandy Johnson converted a RBI groundout to extend the lead to 2-0 in the third. After the Pirates 1 tied the game at two in the bottom of the third the Rays 2 came back with a RBI single by Roimer Bolivar in the fourth. In the fifth Alfredo Balbuena hit a two-RBI triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Cesar Aponte to take a 5-2 lead. Yonathan Pierre’s RBI groundout added an insurance run in the sixth. Ryson Polonius doubled home the final run of the game in the ninth.
