Kevin Padlo (Durham) continues his strong season with two hits including a two-run double. David Rodriguez (Montgomery) provided all their offense with a two-run homer. Chris Betts (Bowling Green) picked up three hits including his 17th homer of the year in the blowout victory.
Triple-A Durham Bulls (62-46)
The Durham Bulls defeated the Gwinnett Stripers 6-1. The Stripers were the first on the scoreboard scoring on a wild pitch in the third inning. Nathan Lukes put the Bulls on the board with a bases loaded triple that scored three runs to take a 3-1 lead in the seventh. Kevin Padlo drove two home with a double in the eighth to extend the lead to 5-1. Daniel Robertson’s RBI single added an insurance run in the ninth. Aaron Slegers and Ryan Merritt combined to hold the Stripers offense to one run on three hits.

The Bowling Green Hot Rods shutout the Lake County Captains 10-0. Chris Betts doubled home the first two runs of the game in the second inning. In the third Jonathan Aranda’s RBI double extended the lead to 3-0. Grant Witherspoon drove home a run on a groundout and Betts capped off scoring in the third with a RBI single to extend the lead to 5-0. Witherspoon added a RBI double in the fifth. Witherspoon’s RBI groundout in the seventh extended the lead to 7-0. Betts hit a two run homer to cap off the scoring in the seventh and give the Hot Rods a 9-0 lead. Osmy Gregorio’s RBI double in the eighth put the Hot Rods up 10-0. Caleb Sampen threw 6.0 scoreless innings.

The DSL Rays 1 fell to the DSL Dodgers Bautista 5-4. The Rays 1 took an early lead with on an error in the second inning. The Dodgers Bautista scored the tying run in the fourth and then scored two runs in the seventh to take a 3-1 lead. In the eighth Alejandro Pie drove in a run on a RBI single and Stir Candelario converted a RBI groundout to tie the game at three. In the tenth the Dodgers Bautstia scored two runs, but the Rays 1 fell short only scoring one.

The DSL Rays 2 defeated the DSL Indians 5-4. The Rays 2 scored all four runs in the third inning. Roimer Bolivar stole third base and scored on the overthrow for the first run. Dahiandy Johnson doubled home the second run and Angel Lopez hit a two-run homer to give the Rays 2 a 4-1 lead. Bolivar singled home a run in the sixth to extend the lead to 5-1. The Indians tightened the game with three runs in the seventh, but weren’t able to plate the tying run.
