It’s the 2019 MLB Trade Deadline and after a mighty slow build up, things reached a crescendo last night as news broke of a massive three team deal that would send Trevor Bauers to the Cincinnati Reds and Yasiel Puig to the Cleveland Indians, with the San Diego Padres also being involved.
This affects the Rays in a couple of ways as they were reportedly in on both Puig and Franmil Reyes — who was also dealt to Cleveland.
As for the Rays on the field, in a back-and-forth affair the Rays came out on top of the Boston Red Sox, thanks to some well timed hits and a valiant effort from the bullpen. Travis d’Arnuad homered again, as did Avisail Garcia. Charlie Morton worked just 4 1⁄3 innings, before receiving the hook. Adam Kolarek promptly surrendered a two run home run after the removal, however, following that, the bullpen held Boston in check over the final four frames.
