Rays prospects and minor leagues: Kevin Padlo hits his third homer for Durham

Kevin Padlo (Durham) had a big day with a double and homerun as part of a three hit game. Daniel Robertson (Durham) collected four hits including a homer.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (62-48)

The Durham Bulls fell to the Charlotte Knights 9-6. Trailing 2-0 the Bulls put two runs on the board in the fourth to tie the game on a Tyler Ladendorf sacrifice fly and RBI single by Mac James. The Knights answered with six runs in the bottom of the frame. In the fifth the Bulls went on a power surge with homers by Daniel Robertson, Jason Coats, and Kevin Padlo. Peter Fairbanks pitched in back to back games for the first time in his career.

The Montgomery Biscuits lost to the Birmingham Barons 10-6 in extras. Jim Haley’s first inning grand slam gave the Biscuits an early lead. In the sixth the Biscuits added an insurance run on a wild pitch. The Barons put up five runs in the top of the tenth and the Biscuits could only answer with a single run on a RBI groundout by Haley.

The Charlotte Stone Crabs game against the Bradenton Marauders was postponed.

Class A Bowling Green Hot Rods (62-46)

The Bowling Green Hot Rods fell to the Dayton Dragons 6-5. Jordan Qsar’s two-run homer put the Hot Rods up 2-1 through two. The Dragons scored single runs in four straight innings to take a 5-2 lead heading into the seventh. Qsar singled home a run in the seventh and Roberto Alvarez drove in two with a single in the eighth to tie the game. However the Dragons scored in the ninth to secure the victory.

The Hudson Valley Renegades defeated the Auburn Doubledays 7-5. Jacson McGowan singled home the second run of the game to give the Renegades a 2-0 lead through one. Greg Jones stole home as part of a double steal in the third. After the Doubledays tied the game at three the Renegades put up a three spot in the fourth. Mason Mallord picked up the big hit with a two-RBI single.

In the fourth the Rays offense burst out for three runs including RBI singles by Sanchez and Jelfry Marte and a RBI double by Angelo Armenta. Nick Schnell singled home the game winning run in the sixth.
