2019 Rays Walk-up Music Bracket: Round 2

Rest in Power, DJ Seven

MLB: Baltimore Orioles at Tampa Bay Rays Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

All right. Round 1 is in the books. I disagreed with a couple picks, but the only song I’m truly morning today is the vastly underrated “Sax to Me” by DJ Seven that Jose Alvarado chose. Part of that, I’m sure, is that Alvarado is still my favorite Ray. Oh well. No huge surprises in Round 1, although I’m pleased (?) to see y’all are still really petty, and I’m starting to get worried I’m going to reverse jinx Avenged Sevenfold into a semifinal appearance in this bracket... On to Round 2!

Round 2 Matchups

Willy Adames: “Sigo Siendo El Papa” by Silvestre Dangond

Brendan McKay: “Butterfly Effect” by Travis Scott

Brief Thoughts: The Latin songs always go out early in these brackets, which may speak to any sort of things that I won’t try to parse here, but I’ll just say: Make sure you actually give these songs a listen! Put me down for Willy and Silvestre Dagond.

Tommy Pham: “Freestyle” by Lil Baby

Austin Meadows: “Coming in Hot” by Andy Mineo

Brief Thoughts: Two of the Rays best players, both with mediocre walk-up songs. Meadows’ works a bit better as a walk-up song, and it’s slightly better as a song too.

Chaz Roe: “Hail to the King” by Avenged Sevenfold

Brief Thoughts: So help me god if Avenged Sevenfold wins here again...

Emilio Pagan: “Bad Man” by Esterly

Brandon Lowe: “Nice for What” by Drake

Brief Thoughts: Drake is good, but I do very much like Pagan’s choice as a walk-up. Either is a strong candidate here.

Travis d’Arnaud: “The Way I Live” by Baby Boy Da Prince

Andrew Kittredge: “#1 Zero” Audioslave

Brief Thoughts: Y’all eliminated Michelle in the first round, but I suppose I can accept it; this is the year of TdA, after all. Both very solid choices here, again. This year’s bracket may be the best on record.

Daniel Robertson: “Higher” by DJ Khaled

Kevin Kiermaier: “Hustlin’” Rick Ross

Brief Thoughts: I’m intrigued by “Hustlin’” dominating Drake in the first round... Is KK going to win this thing this year, ala Longoria winning this first edition of this bracket?
