Greg Jones, outfielders Hill Alexander and Garrett Hiott, infielders Jacson McGowan and Nick Sogard, and pitcher Joe LaSorsa were named New York-Penn League All-Stars Thursday. The game will be played in Staten Island on Aug. 20.

I’m not an avid NYPL follower, so maybe there are a lot of deserving pitchers I’m not aware of. However, Edisson Gonzalez seems like an odd omission. He’s sixth in the league in ERA, third in strikeouts, and only has 10 walks in 51 13 innings. He’s had a fine season.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (68-55)

An error cost Durham in its 7-3 loss to Buffalo. Kevin Padlo’s solo home run in the top of the sixth tied the game at three, but the Bisons went ahead for good with four in the bottom of the sixth. All four runs were unearned due to a Padlo error. All four runs were charged to Aaron Sleger. Arturo Reyes allowed two runs in 3 13 innings.

1B Nate Lowe: 1-for-4, 1 RBI, 2 K (.934)
3B Kevin Padlo: 1-for-2, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K (1.120)

RHP Arturo Reyes: 3 13 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 1 K (4.93)

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (35-19)

Tristan Gray homered again, but it wasn’t enough in Montgomery’s 6-4 loss to Jackson. It was his third home run in as many games, and Taylor Walls went deep too. But the Biscuits couldn’t hold a 4-2 lead as the Generals scored four unanswered runs to end the game. After Ryan Thompson opened and allowed a run in an inning, Kenny Rosenberg allowed four runs in 6 13 innings.

DH Lucius Fox: 0-for-4, 1 K (.687)
SS Vidal Brujan: 1-for-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI (.730)
2B Taylor Walls: 1-for-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI (.783)
CF Josh Lowe: 2-for-4 (.753)
1B Tristan Gray: 1-for-4, 2 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 K (.740)

LHP Kenny Rosenberg: 6 13 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 7 K (3.28)

Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (40-17)

Tommy Romero pitched Charlotte to a 7-0 win over St. Lucie. After a one-start hiccup, his ERA dropped back below 2.00 with five scoreless innings. He struck out six. Kaleo Johnson’s sacrifice fly in the first gave the Stone Crabs a 1-0 lead, and Moises Gomez’s two-run homer in the seventh capped the scoring.

SS Wander Franco: 1-for-4, 1 BB (.869)
C Ronaldo Hernandez: 0-for-4, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 K (.696)
DH Moises Gomez: 1-for-2, 2 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K (.703)
LF Garrett Whitley: 1-for-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K (.761)

RHP Tommy Romero: 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 K (1.99)
LHP Trey Cumbie: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K (1.54)

Class-A Bowling Green Hot Rods (32-21)

Alan Strong was sharp in Dayton’s 5-1 win over Bowling Green. The righty struck out a career-high nine and gave up just a run in 6 23 innings. Already leading 1-0, the Hot Rods went up 5-0 when Chris Betts and Osmy Gregorio both homered in the sixth.

RF Ruben Cardenas: 1-for-3, 2 R, 1 3B, 1 BB, 1 K (.791)
1B Seaver Whalen: 2-for-3, 1 BB (.693)
DH Chris Betts: 1-for-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K (.756)
3B Osmy Gregorio: 1-for-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K (.555)

RHP Alan Strong: 6 23 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 K (2.97)

Short-Season Hudson Valley Renegades (36-24)

Hudson Valley finally solved Connecticut in a 3-1 win over the Tigers. After identical 2-1 losses in a doubleheader Thursday, the Renegades were able to score without the benefit of a free, extra-innings baserunner. Nick Sogard tied the game with an RBI single in the third, and Hill Alexander drove in the tying and go-ahead runs. Jacob Lopez turned in a strong start, striking out seven and giving up just a solo homer in six innings.

LF K.V. Edwards: 2-for-3, 2 R, 1 K, 1 SB, 1 CS, 1 HBP (.615)
SS Nick Sogard: 3-for-4, 1 RBI (.676)

LHP Jacob Lopez: 6 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K (2.40)

Rookie Princeton Rays (26-29)

Princeton couldn’t get out of an early hole in an 8-3 loss to Bristol. After the teams traded runs in the first inning, the Pirates went ahead for good with five in the next two innings, including four in the second. The Rays scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to inch closer, but Bristol immediately responded with two of its own a half inning later. Matthew Peguero was charged with four runs — three earned — in 1 13 innings.

CF Aldenis Sanchez: 1-for-3, 1 R, 2 BB, 1 K (.645)
RF Diego Infante: 2-for-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 BB, 1 K (.852)
1B Jake Guenther: 1-for-3, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB (.866)
