Rays prospects and minor leagues: Brandon Lowe removed from rehab assignment with injured quad

Brandon Lowe was removed after grabbing his quad trying to leg out an infield single.

The Durham Bulls fell to the Charlotte Knights 3-0. The Knights scored three runs in the first four innings. Brandon Lowe was removed from the game after trying to leg out an infield single in the sixth. Lowe was grabbing his quad.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (84-45)

The Montgomery Biscuits defeated the Biloxi Shuckers 6-5. The Biscuits fell behind 2-0 after a homer in the top of the fifth. Miles Mastrobuoni doubled home the first run in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 2-1. Tristan Gray’s two-run homer gave the Biscuits a 3-2 lead through six. The Shuckers tied the game in the top of the seventh, but the Biscuits rose in the bottom of the inning. Lucius Fox’s RBI single, Vidal Brujan’s sacrifice fly, and a wild pitch gave the Biscuits a 6-3 lead. The Shuckers scored two runs in the eighth, but rather fell short.

The Charlotte Stone Crabs fell to the Fort Myers Miracle 7-5. After falling behind 1-0 the Stone Crabs responded with two runs in the fifth on a double play and a RBI single by Izzy Wilson. The Miracle scored the next six runs. In the eighth Moises Gomez hit an RBI single that cut the deficit to 7-3. In the ninth Wander Franco singled home a run and the Stone Crabs scored a second run on a fielding error. However the rally came up short.

The Bowling Green Hot Rods defeated the Lake County Captains 5-4. Jordan Qsar gave the Hot Rods a 3-0 lead with a three-run homer in the first. In the third Jonathan Aranda’s RBI single extended the Hot Rods lead to 4-1. In the seventh Nick Schnell added an insurance run on a sacrifice fly. The Captains scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Hot Rods would hold on for the 5-4 victory.

The Princeton Rays fell to the Bluefield Blue Jays 7-2. Jake Guenther tripled home the first run of the game in the third inning to give the Rays a 1-0 lead. The Blue Jays scored six unanswered before the Rays scored on a wild pitch in the sixth.

The GCL Rays lost to the GCL Pirates 4-3. Trailing 2-0 in the third the Rays scored on a throwing error to cut the Pirates lead to 2-1. The Rays offense went silent until the eighth. Johan Lopez drove home a run with a triple and Freddvil Chevez hit a sacrifice fly, but the Rays rally came up one run short.

The DSL Rays 1 shutout the DSL Braves 6-0. The Rays 1 sprinted out to a 3-0 lead in the first. Stir Candelario hit a two-run homer and Juan Mata singled home the third run. In the fifth Bryan Santos added a RBI single. In the seventh the Rays 1 scored two runs on wild pitches.

The DSL Rays 2 defeated the DSL Indians/Brewers 10-6. Dahiandy Johnson doubled home the first run of the game in the first inning. In the third the Indians/Brewers scored four runs. In the fifth Johnson doubled home a run to cut the deficit to 4-2. The Indians/Brewers added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth. Roimer Bolivar hit a sacrifice fly to bring the Rays 2 within two runs. In the seventh the Rays 2 offense exploded for four runs. Willy Vasquez drove home two runs with a single. Cesar Aponte doubled home two runs to give the Rays 2 a 7-5 lead. In the eighth Daury Del Rosario doubled home two insurance runs. In the ninth the final run scored on a passed ball.
