Last night, the Tampa Bay Rays blew two separate leads against the Houston Astros as Ryan Yarbrough was unable to keep the Astros offense at bay with a 3-0 lead, surrendering three runs in the forth.
Later, after the Rays took a 4-3 lead in the 7th, Diego Castillo would give up three runs of his own to give Houston a 6-4 advantage. Oliver Drake yielded two runs in the 8th. Willy Adames continued his stellar campaign away from Tropicana Field with a two run shot in the 9th, but it was too little too late for the Rays as the fell, 8-6.
Fortunately for the Rays, the Oakland Athletics also lost so the Rays are still just one game back for the second Wild Card.
This afternoon, the Rays will look to avoid the sweep as the Astros will send Zack Greinke to the mound with Andrew Kittedge opening for Tampa Bay.
