Andrew Velazquez homered against his old club in Game 1 of the International League Championship.

In addition to Andrew Velazquez, Columbus also has a vintage Rays flavor to the roster with Dioner Navarro and Mitch Talbot. From 2014-17, Talbot did not pitch in affiliated baseball, but he’s been a midseason addition to the Clippers in each of the last two seasons.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (3-1)

Durham fell to Columbus in Game 1 of the International League Championship, 8-3. Like any Triple-A game this season, home runs were a big part of the story. The Clippers went up 3-0 in the first on Bobby Bradley’s homer, but in the fourth, the Bulls pulled within one thanks to longballs from Kevin Padlo and Dalton Kelly. A half inning later, Ka’ai Tom and Andrew Velazquez went deep, and Columbus extended its lead to five. Jose De Leon allowed seven runs — six earned — in three-plus innings.
