Tampa Bay Rays news and links: Can we just play Cleveland the rest of the year?

Now to take advantage of the final soft spot on the 2019 calendar

The Rays had an awesome week just when they needed to. By going a combined 4-2 against Houston and Cleveland, along with some oh so delicious A’s bullpen blow-ups (take note silly Rays fans who think our bullpen sucks), the Rays have catapulted themselves into the top spot of the three (and maybe four, I’m not burying Boston just yet) team race for the two American League wild card spots.

Now they face a rather easier run, at least on paper: vs. BAL (3), vs. TOR (4), @TEX (3) @LAA (3), before ending with a bit tougher: @LAD (2) vs. BOS (4), vs. NYY (2); and then three in Toronto to end the season.

It’s time to take advantage of that lesser competition (something the Rays have actually done quite well at all year), and set us up for what should be a hell of a final week of regular season (and hopefully then postseason!) baseball.

For the record, my completely non-statistically based prediction: One team gets to 94 wins, the other two sit on 93 and play a play-in for the Wild Card play-in game.
