Another day, another extra innings walk off win!

MLB: New York Yankees at Tampa Bay Rays Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The wildcard push continues for the Rays, who are half a game up on the Cleveland Indians. The Rays wrap up their season series with the Yankees.

Yonny Chirinos was activated from the IL and gets the start against The Yankees opener Jordan Montgomery.

For being fresh off the IL, Chirinos did a fine job of getting through the Yankees lineup. The only hit and mistake he made was this home run to Cameron Maybin in the top of the 3rd inning.

Chirinos finished the rest of the inning and sat the rest of the Yankees down, no problem.

Chirinos’ final line: 3.0 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 0 BB & 0 Ks

After the Yankees’ Jordan Montgomery, it was a battle of bullpens, with defense on both ends making plays.

Rays tied it up in the bottom of the 5th inning with a Kevin Kiermaier HR off Stephen Tarpley.

From here, it came down to which bullpen would break first, and the Rays went toe-to-toe with the Yankees’’ pen.

A combo of 7 Rays pitchers went 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, and 10 strikeouts. Mind you, this was a full, playoff squad Yankees with Aaron Judge (1-5, 3K) and Giancarlo Stanton(1-4, 2 BB, 1 K) in the lineup.

Thats right, extras again!

At the end of the 10th inning, Chaz Roe got DJ LeMahIeu to ground out, and came back out for the 11th.

Roe opened the 11th inning by striking out Aaron Judge and Gleybar Torres, making them look silly, but ran into some trouble with Giancarlo Stanton, who singled to put a runner on with 2 outs. Roe then worked a full count to Luke Voit, before striking him out to end the inning.

If Roe wasn’t anxiety inducing enough for you, then I’ve got the perfect fix, because the Rays sent our Peter Fairbanks!

Gregorious: Strike Out

Maybin: Groundout (with a heart stopping bobble by Brosseau)

Romine: Doubled- on a pop up that falls between Duffy and Pham.

That brought up Brett Gardner.

And Fairbanks came through with a huge strikeout. That’s 13 strikeouts for Rays’ relief pitching.

Im just going to leave this here:

This team is absolute Magic.

FINAL: 2-1 Rays win. Rays hold onto their 2nd WC spot.

Lets do it again tomorrow with Uncle Charlie on the mound. Game time is at 7:10 PM.
