The Rays are set to begin a four-game series at home, welcoming the Toronto Blue Jays to Tropicana Field.
The first game of this series, however, will be exclusively streamed on YouTube, and not shown on the local network FOX Sports Sun.
The good news is that the game will be streamed free of charge on YouTube, with no account required and no local blackout restrictions. A direct link to the stream can be found here.
Earlier in the season, Major League Baseball and YouTube reached an agreement to showcase 13 games exclusively on the video-sharing website. Tonight’s game will be the 10th installment of the weekly broadcast, with Tuesday, September 17th’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers also scheduled to be exclusively steamed on the site.
Stephen Nelson will be on the call for the MLB Network-produced broadcast, making his Major League debut as a play-by-play announcer. Former Rays first baseman Carlos Peña will join Nelson and Blue Jays broadcaster Buck Martinez in the booth, while former Rays reporter Kelly Nash will appear on the broadcast in a familiar role to Rays fans.
The final three games of the series against the Blue Jays will be broadcast on the Rays’ usual television home, FOX Sports Sun.
H/T to Jake Baskin on the broadcast crew for YouTube.
