The Tampa Bay Rays have announced their starting lineup for game two of the American League Division Series. The Rays, already down 1-0 in the best of 5 series, will be facing a new challenge in short in stature, but large in promise, 21 year old right-handed pitcher Deivi Garcia.
Garcia made 6 starts for New York in the regular season, finishing with a 4.98 ERA / 4.15 FIP over 34 1⁄3 innings pitch. He doesn’t walk anyone as he registered a 4.1 BB% and can hold his own in the strikeout department with a 22.6 K%. Righties fare much better against Garcia, registering a .344 wOBA over 79 plate appearances, opposed to the .257 wOBA lefties had over 67 plate appearances.
The Rays are choosing to go with a left-handed heavy lineup (5 lefties, 4 righties), with Austin Meadows leading off as the DH.
