Tampa Bay Rays News & Links: No more Bumpdays in St. Pete

Rays trade away Snell and Alvarado in separate deals

Not gonna lie, it’s been a rough couple days to be a Rays fan. Local stingray is not happy! On Monday, the Rays reached an agreement to trade Blake Snell to the Padres for right-handers Luis Patiño, catcher Francisco Mejía, minor leaguer righty Cole Wilcox, and minor league catcher Blake Hunt. Then to make room on the 40-man, the Rays dealt talented but enigmatic lefty Jose Alvarado to the Phillies in a three-team deal. The Rays received back minor league first baseman Dillon Paulson.

Let’s see what the greater sportsworld had to say about these moves.

IN OTHER NEWS:

The Rays weren’t the only team to deal an ace, as the Cubs dealt Yu Darvish, also to the Padres. Man, those Padres are gonna be fun to watch. The Cubs received back Zach Davies and some magic beans.

In other, other news, Ji-Man Choi was names Incheon Man of the Year.

I’m sure some other things happened in the baseball world, but frankly, I’m exhausted. And angry. And sad. And exhausted. And... well, you get the idea. Good luck, Blake and Jose! And I really hope Patiño and Mejía are everything the Rays hope they are. And I reeeeeeeallly hope the Rays aren’t done, because this team is worse than it was on Christmas Day.
