Editor’s Note: We here at DRaysBay are proud to introduce Rays Your Voice, a podcast recapping the goings on in and around the Rays organization. Please read an introduction from the host, Brett, below. Stay safe, and Go Rays! - Danny Russell

Rays Your Voice is joining the DRaysBay Podcast Network alongside the re-launch of The Hit Show. The show is hosted by me, Brett Rutherford, but on most shows, I’ll be joined by guests, many of whom you’ll recognize from this site, who will get the chance to “Rays” their voices (wink, wink) about the stories of the week.

I’m new here, so let me briefly introduce myself. I’m a lifelong Rays fan, born and raised in the Tampa Bay Area. I grew up cheering for the likes of Casey Fossum, Toby Hall, and Jorge Cantu, and finally got to experience winning up close and personal in 2008. Yes, I was there when Trever Miller got Joe Mauer to pop out in foul territory to soon-to-be Rookie of the Year Evan Longoria, sending the Rays to the postseason for the first time in franchise history.

The Rays have always been a part of my life and my relationship with my father. We’d spent countless nights on our back porch talking about that night’s game, complaining about the new lineups deployed by Joe Maddon, and dreading the days in which we’d see the likes of Longo and David Price don new uniforms, which we knew was inevitable.

When I went off to college in 2017, those opportunities to talk baseball with my old man became few and far between. I still wanted to that opportunity to talk Rays baseball, and trying to explain the opener to my non-baseball watching roommate just wasn’t cutting it. Combine that with an affinity for the sound of my own voice, and aspirations to start a career in sports broadcasting, and Rays Your Voice was born in January 2019.

Throughout the 2019 season, I released episodes recapping and previewing games, and breaking down roster moves made by Neander and Co. If you listened last year, awesome! Glad that you’re back and I can guarantee that the content will be revved up as part of the new DRaysBay Podcast Network.

In this episode I’m joined by Danny Russell, where we go into some more detail about what you can expect from the show, and “Rays our voices about issues surrounding the team that we feel aren’t discussed enough.
