Yesterday the virtual food drive for Feeding Tampa Bay, which is helping those in need during the COVID-19 crisis, reached its $400,000 fundraising goal, which is the equivalent of 4 million meals.
The Rays Baseball Foundation and Rowdies Soccer Fund kicked off the campaign with a $100,000 donation, which facilitated 2.5 million meals, and continued by matching donations for the next $150,000 to reach the team’s goal.
Fans are still encouraged to join the campaign by purchasing essential food items or making a monetary donation at website donate.feedingtampabay.org/teamingup
Currently, the Rays organization’s drive has raised $411,100.
The Rays announced this milestone with a video of thanks from several Rays players, including 2B Brandon Lowe:
Four million meals.
