Friday Open Thread: Tell us your jersey stories from first to worst

Rather than the usual FanPost Friday prompt, some folks have requested an open thread option instead to make participating easier. So this week we’re going to do something a bit different. You can still write a FanPost about this if you want, but we’re also keeping the comments open so you can share shorter versions of your story below.

The Tampa Bay Rays have some of the best-looking jerseys in baseball, whether the crisp white and navy, the Devil Rays throwbacks, or the Columbia blue. They’re pretty darned snazzy. I’m even partial to the 1970s-style faux-backs.

But when you invest in a jersey, the real debate isn’t whether you get home or away, it’s what name you get on the back. Do you pick a flashy newcomer, and exciting prospect, or a player most likely to stick around a few years?

With today’s open thread we want to know about your jersey picks. Who was your first jersey (or even shirsey), which is your favorite, and which do you maybe regret a little? (Personally I regret not pulling the trigger on a Pham jersey before his tenure ended.)
